Zac Efron’s London Premier

High School Musical star turned movie star this year with the latest hit movie to grace us with its presence at the box office. Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling star in The Lucky One, which had its UK Premier on Monday night.
Zac Plays a US Marine who travels to Louisiana after serving three tours in Iraq and searches for the unknown woman he believes was his good luck charm during the war. Screaming fans mobbed the star as he walked the red carpet, call me old and grumpy but some fans were a bit over emotional, I dont see it myself!!
Producer Sarah Mills and I covered the event for Reuters on a very wet London afternoon, luckily we were under cover and despite the inclement weather, with the lightbulbs filling with rain water the stars had time for everyone both press and fans alike which was really good to see.

French Londoners Vote for President

Yesterday morning Reuters producer Ed Moran and I made our way to one of two Polling Stations in London where French nationals were to spend part of their day queuing to cast their vote diring the first round of the French Elections. Over 350,000 French ex-pats live here in the capital and most were expected to vote at either of the two locations, with queue’s snaking around buildings into the distance many voters had a wait of up to three hours in order to post their nomination into the ballot box.
Ed and I shot the footage in and around the polling station, talking to many that voted, some of which were willing to speak on camera about their preference and many that of course wanted to keep their choice a secret.

Nicki Minaj

Last Thursday was a busy day with three showbiz jobs for Reuters starting with a one-on-one interview and book signing with Olivia Newton John at Waterstones in Piccadilly, followed by the excitement of the European Premier of The Avengers and last but not least a Signing session of Singer Nicki Minaj in a Bayswater shopping centre. What follows is footage from the last event with Nicki surrounded by lots and lots of screaming fans.

This week with Getty Entertainment

For two days this week I have been working with Loranc Sparsi from Getty Images Entertainment Video department based here in London. My first job on Wednesday was to cover a Press Conference for the latest blockbuster movie from director Peter Berg. Starring singer Rihanna, Taylor Kitsch and Liam Neeson, Battleship is going to be in the UK cinema’s from the 11th April. The director and 3 of the films stars were at the Corinthia Hotel promoting the film with a press conference and photocall.
The next task on Thursday evening took me to the BFI Imax cinema over Waterloo Bridge for the European Premier of Wrath of the Titans starring Sam Worthington, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson. The entrance to the building was decked out with the obligatory red carpet, but the face of it was changed using polystyrene pillars and extras wearing spartan style uniforms. We managed to gain red carpet interviews with Liam and Sam and plenty of b-roll content for Getty’s clients around the world.

Review – Vimeo’s TV App

The wife and I purchased a ‘you cant bend it’ Hi-Definition Samsung television recently and although the images and viewing experience is truly amazing one of the best things I have done with it so far is to download the Vimeo tv app from samsung through their smarthub feature. The App is not only easy to setup and use it is free and you can watch Vimeo’s extensive library of standard and Hi-Definition films to your absolute hearts content.
The interface which is controlled through your tv remote is simple and effective (unlike many other tv apps) the navigation is easy to follow and the quality of the hi-definition content is beautiful providing the footage has been uploaded by the member in the correct manner. One of the best features is that in order to use the tv service you have to register on your tv using your online Vimeo account. In doing this Vimeo ensures that anything that you ‘like’ on your tv is instantly registered as such on your online profile and vice-versa, so if you see a film on the website or on your mobile phone app when you are away from home and you would like to see it later on your tv from the comfort of your couch then it is easy to retrieve when you get home…
I personally have had a great experience digging around for inspiration on the Vimeo Channels. Vimeo Staff Pics is there along with a dedicated Vimeo HD channel, one for showcasing independent filmakers and even the Slowmotion and timelapse theatre. For me its all about accessibility and the Vimeo TV App lets me access all manner of brilliant inspirational content in the easiest and most comfortable way possible and the best bit is the fact that I can watch all this where watching films is done best… In the comfort of your own living room on one of the best tv’s on the market today.

The Kernel – A launch Party Video

The following short video is an example of what can be achieved with a simple filming setup, recording voxpops at a launch party event. The Kernel is an online technology magazine located in the city of London, and was launched on Thursday 23rd February 2012 at a location only a short hop from the City of London. Producer and Journalist Stephen Pritchard from ENS Media and I recorded soundbites from attending guests and the final edit put together by Stephen was posted on the Kernel’s website to give readers a flavour of the event.
If you are thinking of hosting an event like this one for your company or organisation, a short video piece can be produced on a relatively low budget and can be used to publish the event to a much wider audience over the web.
A short promotional film can be great value for money, it can look incredibly professional, and can compliment the content on any website. Gun Salutes for the Queens Jubilee

I had two jobs filming for Reuters yesterday, the first of which was to take me to Hyde Park in Central London to film a 41 gun salute that took place to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Crowds gathered in the snow covered Royal Park to see 6 Royal Artillery horse drawn guns thundered into their firing positions to complete their salute which celebrates 60 years rule of Queen Elizabeth II.
This footage shows the queen in Kings Lynn first, this was not shot by me, but the pictures of the gun salute were which is why I have shown it here.

UK Premier – War Horse

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the UK Premier of Steven Speilberg’s latest Hollywood blockbuster War Horse. Exclusively shot in Great Britain the motion picture follows that World War 1 story of a farm hand who enlists in the British Army after his work horse is sold to the Cavalry.
The London Premier of the film was attended by the Director himself, a huge number of the all star cast including Emily Watson and over 300 serving UK Military personnel. Reuters Showbiz producer Cindy Martin and I attended the event, we shot footage at along the red carpet of the Royal’s and the stars arriving and we managed to get interview with a majority of the big Names including the Director himself. It was a busy but fulfilling night shooting and even the short spell of rain did nothing to dampen the spirits of either the crews or the waiting fans.
